October 6, 2025 marked an important milestone for all Quebec businesses. The new part of Law 27, which modernizes the occupational health and safety regime, has come into force and requires organizations to integrate the prevention of psychosocial risks (RPS) into their health and safety plan.
This reform aims above all to protect mental health at work and to promote safer and more respectful work environments.
1. What are psychosocial risks?
Psychosocial risks include all factors linked to the organization and the work climate likely to affect the psychological health of employees. We often find work overload, lack of recognition, stress, harassment, psychological or sexual violence, incivility, lack of autonomy and difficulty disconnecting, particularly when teleworking.
If these risks are not identified and managed, they can lead to absenteeism, high turnover and reduced productivity.
2. What is Law 27?
With Bill 27, employers must now identify, analyze and document psychosocial risks, then integrate them into an official health and safety prevention program. They must also train managers and staff, implement harassment prevention policies and ensure regular monitoring of the measures put in place.
The objective is clear: to make psychological health a priority just like physical health. Rather than perceiving these obligations as a simple legal constraint, they represent a unique opportunity to strengthen organizational culture (kills two birds with one stone!).
3. What can you do to improve stressors in your business?
By carrying out a work climate diagnosis, companies can obtain a precise portrait of areas of tension and stress factors, while implementing concrete solutions to improve the well-being of teams.
This approach contributes not only to legal compliance, but also to the overall performance of the company and the attraction of talent. You can make your request here.
